To remove a heavy redundant ammonia tank from within a restricted access bunded area.
Our in-house GCM trained standby man controlled the compressed air breathing apparatus for the operatives during the initial cold cutting of the ammonia pipework. Additional protection measures were required due to historical use of the pipework. Working in breathing apparatus and full chemical protection suits/PPE, our skilled operatives successfully open ended the pipework to facilitate the removal of the tank.
Following decontamination of the area, the 8m long 3m diameter redundant tank was prepared for removal using hot cutting techniques. The tank was stitch cut in preparation for the crane lift and removal.
At GCM we pride ourselves in the fact that we will never contract out lifting activities. All our Lift Studies are completed/designed in-house by our experienced and trained Appointed Persons. Once on site, our highly experienced Lift Supervisors and slingers/riggers take over.
Our in-house cradle to grave approach will give you peace of mind that the works will be carried out in accordance with LOLER regulations, safely and in a controlled professional manner.
Another successful project delivered for a repeat client. The works were carried out safely, on time and within budget. The area was fully stripped out and ready for the installation of a replacement tank to keep the plant running.
