Dismantling of Redundant Assets from Former Ethylene Production Plant

Location:  INEOS Refinery

As an approved term contractor within this operational Tier 1 COMAH site we were appointed Principal Contractor to dismantle and remove redundant plant and assets from a former Ethylene 4 production plant.  The scope of work included dismantling of the following plant: 

• LPG Storage Sphere
• Various Heat Exchangers
• Production Plant
• Furnace Equipment
• A number of Storage Vessels

GCM Demolition engineers worked in conjunction with the ineos site project team  to ensure the plant and asset was isolated and decontaminated prior to decommissioning. The project involved the careful removal of Asbestos insulated redundant service lines and working around live sensitive service tracks which serviced adjacent live operational plants. GCM hold a full Asbestos Licence for removal of all types of Asbestos and all Asbestos materials were programmed to be removed by our in house team ahead of the decommissioning works. 

The project works were safely completed within the 32-week project timescale. The arising plant and assets were carefully processed and marketed utilising our extensive industry knowledge to provide best value to the client.
